...Chris Wood's Guitar Orchestra - 26th May in Foley's Bar, Limerick...

The latest project to come out of the Three Songs phenomen is the Chris Wood Guitar Orchestra. Chris Wood has been writing his own songs for over 20 years and has recently embarked on an idea to expand his intricate sound by collaborating with three other Limerick guitarists - Fergal Nash, John Garvey and Michael Ridley. The first performance of the fledgling Guitar Orchestra will be in Foleys Bar, Limerick City on Thursday the 26th of May at 9.30pm.

Over the four years since he began running Three Songs at the White House Chris has got to know many highly talented guitarists who he connected with musically. Chris's style has always leaned towards the intricate when it comes to guitar playing and composition and he is always experimenting with new ways to capture the right mood. With the Guitar Orchestra this concept has exploded as three new parts have been written for each song that will be performed. A magical feeling permeates all the songs and it is clear that guitars alone can indeed create all the sublteties of sound that are needed to bring a song to completion.

Performing as special guests at the Limerick Songwriters Night in the upstairs at Foleys this will be a chance to hear a unique and captivating sound that is part of the continuing celebration of songwriters in Limerick and beyond. There will also be solo songwriters performing on the night, some of whom are seasoned performers and some of whom are only taking their first outings in the world of performing their own material live.
